About Prairie View

Founded in 1986, Prairie View is a not – for – profit corporation, which provides a wide range of services for over 80 individuals from all social and economic backgrounds. Today, Prairie View is recognized as a leader in developing groundbreaking programs for individuals with a variety of disabilities and disadvantages. Prairie View’s main office is located at 18569 Lane Road, Fayette, Iowa. We have provided supports for thousands of people in our residential programs, community based houses, apartments and home – based
options over the years.

Prairie View’s interest in PWS services has been spurred on by the vision of long time Administrator and CE), Ann Bunn. Ann has a granddaughter with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Ann relates, “There is a special kind of satisfaction that comes from making a difference in people’s lives. I’m thrilled to work for the Prairie View Board of Directors who have decided to address an unmet need in Iowa for adults with
Prader-Willi Syndrome.”

Prairie View’s program will provide…..

Our specialized program provides quality residential services specifically geared to meet the unique and challenging need of adults with PWS. A community – based home serves four to five adults
diagnosed with PWS and features:

  • Well trained and caring staff, in the home around the
    clock.
  • Client to staff ratio to meet the client’s needs
  • Secure kitchen/food storage
  • In – home exercise equipment
  • Individual bedrooms
  • Regular access to a registered nurse
  • Ongoing staff training and monitoring by a
    counselor
  • Individualized behavior plans
  • Continuous empowerment support and problem
    solving
  • Consultation from a dietitian to ensure weight
    management
  • Individualized day programs and community – based
    activities, coordinated by staff.
